1. Establish the purpose and specific goals:
MediaTek Corporation (hereinafter referred to as MediaTek) in optical storage, multimedia, digital TV, and smart mobile communication device chips and systems has become one of the world's leading technology companies. Guohua Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as "the school"), in order to promote the forward-looking technology development and cross-domain applied research of the university and MediaTek, it has integrated related research resources and set up products in accordance with the "Key Points for the Establishment of the National Tsinghua University Industry-University Research Center" The functional "MediaTek-National Tsinghua University Innovation Research Center" (hereinafter referred to as "the Center"). Through this center, the school can establish a long-term and close industry-academia cooperation relationship with MediaTek to develop advanced technologies to help MediaTek continue to maintain its leading position in international technology, and to build the company's future growth in other important and commercial potential areas New technologies, while cultivating high-level R & D talents, providing momentum for corporate growth.
The establishment of this center is necessary. On the one hand, it can continue the research team and achievements accumulated in the past of MediaTek Embedded System Lab. On the other hand, it can expand the scope of participation in the school, while providing a framework for MediaTek to develop a more flexible long-term relationship with the school.
2. Specific promotion of work and business content:
(1) Establishing a research team: In relation to MediaTek ’s core technology and future development direction, relevant professors from this university are invited to join the operation of the center, and a research team is established to expand and strengthen the cooperative relationship with MediaTek.
(2) Joint research and development plan: Through the negotiation between MediaTek and the professors of the school, select the appropriate theme for the joint research and development plan, and MediaTek will provide necessary funding, technology, equipment and other assistance to jointly develop innovation and high-efficiency technology And become an international technology leader.
(3) Other academic and talent cultivation or recruitment plans related to the Center.
3. Organization, operation and management methods
(1) The members of the center are composed of teachers and professional and part-time researchers of the university. When necessary, external scholars and experts may be hired as contracted researchers. There is one director in this center, who will integrate the center's business. The director of the center is hired by the principal for the school's teachers. The center may have up to two deputy directors. One deputy director may, after consulting the center director and MediaTek, appoint one teacher of the school to serve concurrently, and assist the director to promote and execute the center's business. Another deputy director may be appointed by MediaTek. The center employs one full-time assistant or several assistants to promote the business of the center, and perform the tasks and recurring tasks assigned by the director. The management of guest or seconded teachers and staff of the Center shall be handled in accordance with the "Implementation Principles of Research Staff and Staff of National University School Funds for Teaching Staff" and relevant regulations of the University.
(2) The Center has an advisory committee with 5 to 7 members. The principal designates the director of the General Center for Industry-Academic Cooperation and Operation as the ex-officio member and the convener. Among the technical R & D personnel, the principal is requested to be hired and concurrently appointed for a term of three years. The Advisory Committee meets at least once every time.
(3) The Center will hold a presentation of the results at least once a year, and conduct business, results, and financial briefings to the General Center for Industry-Academic Cooperation and Operation for evaluation.
4. Funding sources and use planning
(1) MediaTek promises long-term support for the operation of this center in the future. Within 5 years after the establishment of the center, MediaTek and / or other third parties agreed by both parties will provide a total of at least NT $ 10 million (10 million). Funding subsidies to jointly participate in R & D and personnel training.
(2) The actual research plan is reviewed annually by the director and center director assigned by MediaTek. The contents of the plan can be modified and updated at any time with the consent of both parties in order to respond to changing international competition.
5.Spatial planning
The operation space of the center is located in Room 306 of Delta Building.
6.Medium to long range planning
(1) Recent: Continuing the research results of the MediaTek Embedded System Lab and conducting related research on smart mobile devices and heterogeneous system architecture. At the same time, cooperate with MediaTek to apply for the National Science Association Major Alliance plan and other related plans.
(2) Medium-term: Expand the research area of the center, and invite the relevant professors of the university to join the center's core technology and future development direction, such as 5G communication and systems, biomedical systems, micro-electromechanical, etc., and expand and strengthen the cooperation relationship.
(3) Long-term: The innovative ideas and research put forward by the professors and students participating in the operation of the center, and jointly develop innovative and high-efficiency technologies with MediaTek to become an international technology leader.
7. Expected specific performance:
The expected results of this center include academic thesis publication, patent application and layout, technology transfer, education and training, seminars and special lectures, student participation competitions, student internships, graduated PhD students, and consultants. It is expected that the operation of this center will work closely with MediaTek's technology research and development, and the research and development results will help MediaTek's technology and competitiveness increase.
8. The establishment of the center
The establishment of this center is subject to the examination and approval of the research and development meeting and the school council of the school, and the establishment of the center shall be submitted to the executive meeting for approval.
